I must admit. I got this idea to make a book every month during a fever dream. When I'm in a subsleep state I get crazy ideas that can keep me awake.
So, the next days I was in my bed kicking that flu.
When I felt better I went back to the area and it was pouring rain and was very windy. My M6 got completely wet. There were some raindrops on the filter in front of the lens. Maybe this can lead to some happy accidents or maybe these pictures will be completely crap. But that's why I love to shoot film, you never know what the results will be.
It's like a box of chocolates, I guess.
During our summer holiday in France, I took my Nikonos V with me. I took a lot of pictures while swimming. Mostly from people jumping in the river. A lot of the shots were crappy because of the drops not aligning properly but I got one good photo.
Back to this project.
For the landscapes I mainly used a 50mm lens and some shots were with a 35mm lens. All shot on Ilford hp5+ exposed at iso 800 and bulk loaded in canisters.
I covered the whole "scorched" area, took landscape photos and tried to find some details. Which was more difficult than I thought because everything is completely gone except some white birches.
Today I'm developing the film. In a next post I will talk about how I develop my photographs.
So, why this project? It will put some constraints on me. I'm limited in time and scope. I also decided to stick to one medium or camera for each month. For consistency.
I'm very eclectic in my photography and this project can be a way to discover more what I'm drawn to as my 'voice'.
Until the next one!
